Humanoids, Humans, and the Workforce Revolution No One Is Talking About
Humanoid robots are at peak hype, accompanied by sweeping predictions that they will replace 50 percent or more of human jobs within the next few years. Using real robot production data and historical comparisons to past technology waves, expert Andra Keay will explain why humanoids are not about to take all our jobs, not in five years and not in twenty.
More importantly, she will unpack the workforce shift most people are missing. Robots act as workforce multipliers, not replacements. They are already addressing structural labor shortages, redefining what “skilled work” means, increasing available jobs as productivity increases, and expanding the capacity of human teams. Far from hollowing out employment, robotics is creating new roles, new industries, and new career paths that did not previously exist, particularly in human-robot interaction design and communication.

Andra Keay
Andra Keay is the Managing Director of Silicon Valley Robotics, the largest robotics ecosystem in the world. Andra was previously a human-robot interaction (HRI) Pioneer and has continued to volunteer as industry chair for several IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) conferences. Contributing to IEEE’s ethical standards development and thriving in roles that demand futures thinking, she has cultivated a niche in navigating and shaping the robotics landscape. As founder of Women in Robotics, Andra reflects a commitment to empowering women in leadership and enhancing their impact across industries. A sought-after keynote speaker, she has graced the stages of major international conferences, including Web Summit, SXSW, SingularityU Global Summit, and Delphi Economic Forum. Her expertise includes good robot design, building successful value-driven technology clusters, and robotics industry and investment trends.

Directions
Chabot Space & Science Center is located in Oakland within Redwood Regional Park. From Highway 13, take the Joaquin Miller exit. Turn left at Monterey Blvd and take the 1st left onto Lincoln Ave. Continue onto Joaquin Miller Rd then turn left at the Skyline Blvd traffic light. Take Skyline 1.5 miles to the Center. Turn right into the driveway at the sign.
